Balloon vine, or mudakathan in Tamil, is called Cardiospermum in Latin. This delightful vine, with beautiful feathery leaves, is great for treating skin conditions, such as eczema, acne, dandruff, etc, and also contains anti-inflammatory agents, which help relieve pain in arthritis.

I love the way at Solitude Farm cafe, how we use the balloon vine in dosas, but by far, the most beautiful part of the plant is the seed! Reflecting its Latin name Cardiospermum, when removed from its papery pod, you will discover a small dark seed with a white love heart printed on it. How sweet does it get! Mother Nature is just playing with us!
