Ponnagani is one of the most tasty tamil spinaches. Its completely wild, and still very much known in the Tamil culture.
“Pon” in tamil means gold, and the saying goes that if you eat this spinach, your skin will glow like gold. Its not only good for your skin but also good for the liver and eyesight.
These leaves grow on a slightly hard stem and should be removed (if they are tender the stem can also be cooked).
Boil some moong dal with some turmeric powder and keep it aside.
Saute some onion, tomatoes, garlic and green chillies, for a while and add the boiled moong dal and salt.
Let it cook for few mins, now add the spinach and let it cook for few mins and added grated coconut and enjoy.
