Potatoes

In Auroville, Many people want to grow plants like potatoes in Auroville. I say to them it won’t work. If it would work, then surely farmers would be growing them already.
I have worked extensively with our community in Auroville, helping to set up gardens and encouraging people to eat local foods. Claudine, from the Dana community, set up a beautiful garden, and our community garden project gave her a hand in digging the beds and planting the first plants. She asked me about growing potatoes, and of course, I told her it was not a local plant.

She did not listen to me but went ahead and tried to grow them! I love being proved wrong! She grew beautiful potatoes! This goes to show that nature will always surprise you, and with the right conditions, maybe anything is possible!!!
