Peanut Chutney

Nothing excites us at Solitude farm cafe more than Peanut Chutney! It’s soooo simple to make, and is ideal to be eaten with some crispy, fresh dosas.

Peanuts are an active source of healthy fats, they’re full of proteins and antioxidants.The recurring theme in 365 is using local foods in diverse recipes. This tasty chutney that is easy to put together for kids’ breakfast is a perfect example of how we can reduce our carbon footprint, and at the same time eat healthy delicious food.

Peanut Chutney

To make the chutney:

  1. Roast 1 cup of peanuts on low heat, until it turns golden brown and make sure the husk is blown away.
  2. Add the peanuts to a blender, with 2 cloves of garlic, a small piece of ginger, 2 dried red chillies and a small lemon-sized ball of tamarind (or a teaspoon of tamarind paste).
  3. Blend the mixture until smooth, and add water to adjust the consistency as favoured.
