3-DAY INTENSIVE PERMACULTURE WEEKEND WORKSHOP

Join us on a road back to nature with this intensive and hands-on workshop that will empower you to start growing your own food and gain insight into knowing where your food comes from. Explore the principles of permaculture; mulching, rotations, intercropping, understand the steps to create a food forest, start a nursery, make your own soap and recycle your waste water, learn about seed saving and lots more. This workshop puts together an authentic and holistic approach to help you reconnect with Mother Earth and start your project today!

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellation by Participant:
1 month or more before the workshop start date: Full refund available 
2 weeks before the workshop start date: 50% of the fees paid 
1 week or less days before the workshop start date: 20%, but you may be eligible for a credit towards a future workshop.

Cancellation by Solitude:
We reserve the right to cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances such as low enrollment, instructor illness, or inclement weather. In such cases, participants will be notified as soon as possible and offered a full refund or the option to transfer to another workshop.

Module 1: Introduction to permaculture through local foods – 3:30pm to 6:00pm


Solitude Farm is a true example of Masanobu Fukuoka’s philosophy in practice – a road back to nature through eating local food. In this first module we get the full introduction to the farm, understanding the philosophy in practice. We explore the basic principles of permaculture and how this food forest has emerged at Solitude Farm. We understand the diversity of plants that grow around us, their nutritional, medicinal benefits and unique taste. All this is learnt within the context of making raw, vegan sushi.

Another highlight of the workshop is that you get to enjoy Solitude Farm’s exhilarating Ayurvedic Juices; Sangapoo-Nannari, Hibiscus-Lemongrass or Tulsi-Soursop!

Reflection time: Learning from Fukuoka – 7:00pm – 7:30pm

Solitude Farm has been deeply inspired by the teachings of Masanobu Fukuoka. This encompasses not only growing food and serving Mother Earth but also healing ourselves in the process. All the farm activities are centred on Fukuoka’s vision of natural farming. This session is dedicated to tuning into self with the help of Fukuoka’s writings from One-Straw Revolution at Solitude Farm Café.

Solitude Farm has been deeply inspired by the teachings of Masanobu Fukuoka. This encompasses not only growing food and serving Mother Earth but also healing ourselves in the process. All the farm activities are centred on Fukuoka’s vision of natural farming. This session is dedicated to tuning into self with the help of Fukuoka’s writings from One-Straw Revolution at Solitude Farm Café.

DAY 2

Gathering at Farm – 7:00 am


Make Herbal Tea – 7:00am – 7:30am
Get together to make a one- of- a- kind herbal tea from a variety of ingredients that participants will harvest such as Tippili, Turmeric, Aparajita, Hibiscus, Indian Oregano, Lemon Grass.

Module 2: Permaculture Field Design and Implementation – 8:00am – 12:00pm

Krishna Mckenzie sets the agenda for the day with a morning discussion understanding permaculture design in the context of our field module. We learn about effective soil regeneration, mulching, how to make raised beds, making trenches perennial hedges, sowing seeds, cuttings and saplings, playing with inter-cropping, crop rotation, irrigation etc.

This is an intense, hands-on, practical approach to growing your own food based on simple permaculture principles. This is a module you can replicate in your own farm.

Krishna Mckenzie sets the agenda for the day with a morning discussion understanding permaculture design in the context of our field module. We learn about effective soil regeneration, mulching, how to make raised beds, making trenches perennial hedges, sowing seeds, cuttings and saplings, playing with inter-cropping, crop rotation, irrigation etc.

Farm-to-Plate Lunch with LIVE Music

Solitude Farm-to-Plate Lunch – 12:30pm – 1:30pm

Get to taste our coveted Thali which is literally a kaleidoscope of local colours, flavours and fragrance. It consists of seasonal vegetables, curries, salad, fresh fruit, and millets or rice. Get an ultimate experience of farm-to-plate.

Farm-to-Plate Lunch with LIVE Music

Solitude Farm-to-Plate Lunch with LIVE Music – 12:30pm – 1:30pm

Get to taste our coveted Thali which is literally a kaleidoscope of local colours, flavours and fragrance. It consists of seasonal vegetables, curries, salad, fresh fruit, and millets or rice. This is the ultimate Solitude Farm on a Plate. Relax and enjoy lunch with a live music band where Krishna also joins in to sing songs of the earth on his guitar.

Module 3: Introduction to Bio-Enzyme Making – 1:45 pm 

We use bio-enzymes at the farm for cleaning utensils, floors and even clothes. In this workshop we introduce you to the world of bio-enzymes, take you through a hands-on process of making it easily using everyday by-products like lemon peels. We explore the social impact it can make and the possible ways that this project could be adopted at your workplace, home etc.

Module 4: Handmade Soap-Making – 2:00pm – 4:00pm

By revaluing papaya seeds, neem flowers and soursop leaves, create your own natural soap and recycle waste water to grow your own food. We’ll show you how to pack your soap in banana leaves and inspire you to cut out packaging with simple, creative ideas.

The soap is yours to take away! Most importantly this workshop has an incredible social value which can be used in schools and workplace, you learn and you teach!

Module 6: Vegan Cooking with Weeds – 5:00pm – 6:00pm

Weeds are plants that fed generations before us until they faded in relevance with the advent of modern agriculture. This workshop reinstills the maxim “Food is Medicine”. We introduce you to local weeds that grow easily, require minimum care and are full of nutrition and amazing medicinal values. We plant them with you at the farm, and you take them home.

Having spent the last two days on the farm, exploring your road back to nature, go deeper into his teachings, recognising what you have experienced in the fields. Saturday Free Farm Tour

The free farm tour is a big attraction at Solitude Farm, an hour long interaction with Krishna himself, explaining the work done at Solitude farm and sharing a road back to Nature. The tour is followed by lunch at the farm cafe. If you are coming for the free farm tour, book your lunch in advance and get a free cooler!
