It’s as simple as this – when we find different and interesting ways to use the plants that surround us, we are more likely to benefit from the healing properties that Mother Nature has to offer us through them.
This recipe for a herbal iced tea is just one more way to benefit from the marvelous anti-diabetic and antioxidant properties of the Insulin Plant, while also simply enjoying a cooling & rejuvenating drink in the hot summer months. Two birds with one stone you say?!
The simple preparation:
- Take 2 Insulin Leaves per glass of juice you intend to prepare, and with a splash of water, blend them briefly in a mixer. Strain the resulting puree into juice glasses as desired.
- In a mortar & pestle, pound a handful of Tulsi leaves to make 1 teaspoon of a fine Tulsi paste per glass of juice. Add in equal measure to each glass of Insulin Leaf extract.
- Put a few ice cubes in each glass (you could perhaps use those made from frozen Butterfly Pea Tea for a mind-blowing colour contrast!)
- Squeeze in the juice of Lemon, or Tangerine, as desired.
Consciously attempt to sense the depth of the flavours, and appreciate the healing virtues of it, as you sit down to sip this healthy, refreshing summer beverage. And be glad to be on your way, gently treading your own Road Back to Nature.
