“Flowers are the prayers of the vegetable world” said the Mother, and ‘Dynamic Power’ is the name given by her to this species of Hibiscus. She remarked it to be a quality that is “indispensable for progress”.
The Hibiscus shrub personifies this quality in the ease with which it takes root from a cutting. A good example of a cutting would be one that is slightly woody, cut at a slight angle and about 25-30 centimeters long, and with this you can hardly go wrong – just put it in some sandy soil at a bit of a slant, and give it regular water. Very quickly it will start to sprout new leaf shoots on its stem!
As it grows and starts to blossom, the gorgeous red flowers can be harvested to make a refreshing popsicle. Boil the flowers in water, until the water turns a beautiful bright red. Add a squeeze of lemon and some sweetener, to this. Pour the liquid in popsicle moulds and let it freeze overnight.
It’s the perfect treat for a hot summer day.
