Community Garden

In Auroville, nearly everyone has access to a bit of land to grow some basic foods like papaya, banana, pineapple, Thulsai, Teepali, ladies finger, tomato etc
For many years and especially during the lockdown, we have been making gardens in Auroville in different communities.
With the basic concept of a circle garden, we engaged people in starting to grow their own food.
In some cases, people really made a lot of effort, and after one year our group met together for a potluck dinner at Solitude Farm, and everyone bought seeds they had collected from their own gardens. Each seed is the precursor of a whole civilisation! This to me is proof that if we can bring people together to collaborate over essential collective needs such as the food we can start a revolution in our society!
The takeaways of this project were not only food and seeds but also friendships, collaborations and sharing which have strengthened and developed our community.
