Ocimum tenuiflorum
In every Indian home, you’ll find a tulsi plant. This plant represents purification and is a king of Ayurveda. A few leaves in hot water make a delightful herbal tea and yet, people buy tulsi tea bags!!!
Tulsi is beneficial for memory, cognitive function and has antidepressant, antibacterial and anti inflammatory properties. It also helps normalise blood glucose, blood pressure and lipid levels. Mix the powder with a little ghee or honey or add a teaspoon in warm water it can be ingested or it can even be used as a mouthwash.
At Solitude Farm, Tulsi is one of the many Ayurvedic powders we make. We harvest the leaves and dry them, they are ground into a powder in a blender and transferred into jars. We generate an income with these powders, however, it feels wrong that people should buy them because Tulsi literally grows everywhere!
We tell our customers, “buy it once, but please learn to do it yourself” because it’s so easy.
Profit for us is medicinal, nutritional, cultural, ecological, well being belong to everyone. Explore the possibility of using tulsi in your daily life.
