Module 1 | CSA

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a basket of fruits, vegetables, roots, edible weeds, greens, flowers, etc, that we harvest 3 times a week and provide to our local community. The CSA follows the changing seasons, and this module is all about connection with the plants and the variety of produce. Participants help with the harvest and bring it back to the kitchen, where it is washed, sorted, and packed into baskets for people to come and pick up.

Farm walk with Krishna

At the beginning of every week, Krishna will take all the interns on a farm walk, exploring seasonal changes in the philosophy of natural farming in practice. This moment also gives us an opportunity to look at the work in the coming week.

Module 2 | Field

If we want to learn about permaculture and natural farming in any practical way, we have to spend time in the field. Mulching, harvesting, making beds, planting, chop & drop, fencing, and irrigation are some of the recurring activities the interns will be involved in. These activities connect us back to Mother Nature in a very fundamental way.

Module 4 | Nursery – seeds

Once a week, as a recurring module, interns will be involved with both seeds and the nursery. Seed saving, harvesting, drying seeds, maintaining the seed bank, and packing seeds for sale. The nursery, very much the engine of the farm, requires constant attention: mixing potting compost, seeding, transplanting, and taking care of the young plants.
